GoAuto, Toyota Motor North America’s Vice President, Jack Hollis, has admitted that such an idea is being discussed by the leadership of the Copa but will not be realized in the foreseeable future.
“I think that with its compact size RAV4 occupies a niche in the market. At the same time, however, the segment of SUVs is constantly developing, so there will always be a place for such a car. I still can not commit myself to deadlines for his appearance, as this project is not one of the company’s priorities, but I expect it to be realized”, said Hollis.
It should be recalled that the Toyota RAV4 was previously available in the US and Japan markets in a 7-seat variant. The two additional seats were designed for children. The new TNGA platform, however, will allow the third row to offer far more space.
Hollis confirmed that the fifth generation of the popular crossover would receive hybrid and all-electric versions, but declined to announce details of these machines.
