The Mercedes-Benz sports division, AMG, will develop the new generation of the most powerful C-Class version, which carries the “63” index. This was announced by the head of the company, Tobias Moers, who said the premiere of this car was unlikely to take place before the end of the decade. But the model will certainly rely on hybrid drive.
“In these cruel conditions, especially in Europe, the Mercedes-AMG is bound to rethink the concept of the C63. The car needs to meet new ecological requirements, and this will in any case affect the performance of the engine, “said Moers.
At the moment, the sedan, compartment, estate and cabriolet are equipped with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, which in the standard version develops 475 hp, and in the S-versions – 510 hp. The lightest and fastest coupé Mercedes-AMG C63 S accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.9 seconds and develops a top speed of 290 km / h.
At the New York Motor Show, the company showed the renewed C-Class family, which received a 9-speed automatic transmission. It replaces the current 7-speed automatic. The model is also equipped with a modernized chassis with new damping and spring settings. All modifications of the AMG C63 already have a 3-mode adaptive suspension and a rear differential lock.
