Mazda presented the Kai concept car within the Tokyo Auto Show. This is the forerunner of the next-generation Mazda3. The dimensions of the Mazda Kai are 4420 mm long, 1855 mm wide and 1375 mm high. The prototype is 55 mm later, 60 mm wider and 75 mm lower than the current 5-door Mazda3. The gap in the wheelbase is 50 mm in favor of the concept model, revealed the Fast Car magazine.
No technical details of the prototype have been reported by the company. However, it was specified that it was built on the SkyActive platform and equipped with a SkyActive-X gasoline engine. These bikes will be put on Mazda’s 2019 series cars, with the difference with the current ones being that at low loads, candles will not be used to ignite them. Diesel engines are currently operating on this principle.
Mazda Kai’s other goal is to show the new version of KODO’s main designer style. It will also be used to build future Japanese models.
