Infiniti is not companies that churn out news every day. That will change as the premium Japanese brand will launch at least three new models in the next 12 months. The first of these is called the Q30, the team of Automedia.bg was among the first who managed to try it out. Infiniti Q30 represents hatchback segment of C, in which the brand is entering for the first time. This is the smallest car in its history. It is the result of cooperation with the German concern Daimler, and the alliance with Renault-Nissan, which owns an Infiniti. Perhaps some of you would determine the sharing of technology as a disadvantage to the Japanese model. But the truth is that the Q30 has its own charm, unique design and settings, different technologies, and even is produced in different plants – one in Sunderland, UK. And thanks to the cooperation with Daimler, hatchback, Infiniti boasts a wide range of engines, transmissions, drive systems and modifications, which is unusual for luxury cars from Japan.
Regarding the design, the Q30 can hardly be confused with another vehicle. The Japanese model is equipped with the latest design of the brand, demonstrating a solid front, broad acres of wings, relatively high clearance advanced lateral line and broken back. Forms are both dynamic and luxurious, giving the car a premium look. Therefore also contribute to the large wheels, painted in a contrasting color components fenders and bumpers, LED lights, chrome grille. The interior is also typical of the brand Infiniti – luxury, modern and neat in detail. Here, however, the most visible similarities with the A-Class. Some of the buttons are literally occupied by the German car, the same applies to lever the wiper (moved is left of the steering wheel), controller and brake lights, which is positioned under the dashboard to the left – just like the cars of Mercedes-Benz.
The interior offers high quality materials, including nappa leather and Alcantara. The smallest model, Infiniti, however, is equipped with a different design cab is equipped with materials of the highest quality, rare in a car of this price segment – most elements of the dashboard, console and door panels are trimmed with leather, amount used is rich chrome and most visible parts are made of soft touch material. The seats are also development of Japanese engineers, offering comfort that we are used to seeing on larger and expensive cars.
Infiniti Q30 comes to the market with a choice of five engines – three petrol and two diesel. Or 4×4 Drive is to the front wheels and the transmission is manual or automatic with several control modes – standard, sport, economical and manual. There are two versions – sporty and luxurious. Peak motors, which are expected to be the most sought after are diesel volume of 2.2 liters and gasoline of 2.0 liters. Units are available with four-cylinder turbo, offering 4×4 system and automatic transmission with seven degrees and two clutch. Indicators petrol engine 211 hp and 350 Nm., which make it a leader in its range. With this engine Infiniti Q30 develops 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds. at the version with front-wheel drive, while the one with 4×4 requires 0.1 seconds. more. Average consumption according to official figures is within 6.4l/100km.
Suspension settings, steering and other components are made by Japanese engineers. Big diesel offers 170 hp and 350 Nm, as is standard coupled with 4×4 drive and automatic transmission with seven degrees and two clutch. Here sprint 0-100 km/h takes 8.5 seconds and fuel consumption in the combined cycle is just 4.7l/100km. The other two gasoline engines have a volume of 1.6 liters. A weaker offers 122 hp and more powerful – 156 hp. The small diesel with volume 1.5 liters and 109 hp power, with an extremely low fuel consumption – an average of less than 4l/100km.
As regards the two versions – Q30 and Q30 Sport, they differ both in equipment and in the design and mechanics. Sport model is somewhat lower, a more direct steering system and a 7% solid suspension. The design is different in bumpers, wheels and radiator grille, which are sporty. And in the hall are placed sports seats with integrated headrests. Unlike feel and road behavior of the two modifications. During the official presentation of the model in Portugal we were able to try briefly three of the engines of cars – 2.0 petrol, 2.2 diesel and 1.5 diesel, petrol as was the version Sport, equipped with 4×4. Such modification is felt more firm and direct, yet is designed for lovers of a more dynamic driving. In the luxury version behavior is rather neutral – it rides fairly soft but remains stable in turns. In general road behavior of Q30 and Q30 Sport is exactly as you would expect a similar car – predictable and comfortable, and isolation from the noise in the passenger compartment is high.
Our favorite became the diesel model with 170 hp 4×4 (deluxe version). Impressed our performance, low fuel consumption, SUV features a comfortable ride. Petrol sports car also has a lot to offer, but the foggy weather in Portugal does not allow us to test it properly. The smallest diesel with 109 hp We drove mainly in urban conditions where shown satisfactory dynamics and consumption within 5l/100km. This version would be an excellent option for those seeking low cost and comfort. Overall Infiniti Q30 can be defined as one of the freshest filling in the C-segment hatchbacks. It is designed with proven German, Japanese and French technology, which makes it a unique proposition in the market and its market success portends. For the last significance also have competitive price – from 48 550 lev VAT, quality workmanship, really rich standard equipment and famous service brand. A Q30 is only the beginning. Shortly afterwards, we expect two crossovers – QX30 and QX50, and the super Q60.
