BMW X2The German manufacturer BMW officially introduced its newest crossover, which has been named X2. The car will be sold in March 2018, occupying a place between the X1 and the X3 in the model range of the company in Munich.

The dimensions of the crossover are 4360 mm long, 1824 mm wide and 1526 mm high. The distance between the two axles is 2670 mm. This means that the X2 is 69 mm longer, 3 mm wider and 86 mm lower than X1. The wheelbase of the two models is the same. The volume of the X2’s trunk is 470 liters, but when the rear seats are down, it reaches 1355 liters.

The car is built on the UKL front-end platform, which is used in the new generation X1 and the 2-Series Active Tourer hatchback. It is also the basis of the latest MINI – Cross Countryman and Clubman wagon.

Initially, the BMW X2 will be available with a choice of 3 engines – one gasoline and two diesel. The first one will be on the sDrive20i, where it will develop 192 hp. and 280 Nm. The unit is combined with a 7-speed robotic gearbox with 2 clutches.

Diesel for 2.0-liter with 4-cylinder and turbo, the weaker develops 190 hp. and 400 Nm, and the second – 231 hp. and 450 Nm. They are combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission and will be available with a four-wheel drive system. The petrol variant will be front-wheel drive only.

At a later stage, the range of bikes will be complemented by a 140 hp 3-cylinder petrol engine that can be combined with both the “robot” and the 6-speed manual gearbox. There will also be 150 hp diesel. With the introduction of the new petrol engine, the 192hp version. will get a four-wheel drive.

The basic version of the BMW X2 will receive a sports suspension, and for the M Sport and M Sport X modifications, different spring and damp settings are provided. Dynamic Damper Controls will also be available as an option for the model. They will allow a reduction in clearance from the standard 182 mm to 172 mm.

The price of the car will be clear at the start of sales next year. The main rivals of the new BMW X2 are Mercedes-Benz GLA and Infiniti QX30.
