Audi officially introduced the new generation of its A7 Sportback, whose sales will start in early 2018. The lift is built on the MLB Evo platform, which is also used for the A8 flagship show. Most components and systems are also taken from it. The two cars, however, can not be confused, as the A7 follows the style of its predecessor, with the same sloping roof and a long bonnet.
The length of the new Audi A7 Sportback is 4969 mm, the width is 1908 mm and the height is 1422 mm. In this way, the car is 5 mm shorter, 3 mm narrower and 2 mm taller than the previous generation. At the same time, the distance between the two axes is increased by 12 mm and reaches 2926 mm. This has freed more space for rear passengers – 21 mm.
The machine comes with 4 versions of the suspension. In the base it has steel springs, and in the case of sports clearance is reduced by 10 mm. Following are a version with a pneumatic system that aligns the body’s tilting. The top-of-the-range Audi suspension is pneumatic with adaptive shock absorbers and active rear differential.
The standard equipment of the new Audi A7 Sportback comes with an adaptive steering system. As an option, customers can get a chassis with reversing rear wheels. At low speed, the rear tires twist to 5 degrees in the opposite direction, allowing a turning radius to be reduced by 1.1 meters. At a speed of more than 60 km / h the rear turns in the same direction as the front and so the car is more stable.
The new Audi A7 Sportback will be available with a 6-cylinder 3.0 TFSI gasoline engine developing 340 hp. and 500 Nm of torque. It works in combination with the 7-speed S tronic transmission and quattro ultra four-wheel drive system. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 5.3 seconds. For some markets, the model will also be available with a 2.0 TFSI engine with 245 hp.
For the lift is also provided a version with a “soft” hybrid MHEV, which is equipped with a starter-generator. At a speed of between 55 and 160 km / h, the system “extinguishes” the engine and so the car moves in inertia, reaching a consumption of 0.7 l / 100 km.
The model also has a “start-up” intellectual system, which is activated automatically after the car starts off. The new Audi A7 Sportback features an autopilot system that is activated by the saloon. The autonomous mode of travel works at a speed of up to 60 km/h.
In addition, the car can go out of the garage or enter it, using a special smartphone application. The machine can also follow the lane itself, which is the responsibility of the intellectual cruise control. It works with four radars and cameras and 12 ultrasonic sensors and lifts.
The production of the new Audi A7 Sportback, model year 2018, is centered at the Neckarsulm (Ger) plant. The minimum lift price in Germany is 67,800 euros.
