The company BMW continues testing the receiver roadster Z4. A prototype of the car was shot in Germany, according to the magazine Automobile Gazette premiere of the model will be held in late 2017 or early 2018. The car is built on a completely new plaforma created together with Toyota. In the serial version version he probably gets the name Z5, it will be equipped with Hybrid Synergy Drive system and four-wheel drive. Hybrid is not yet disclose details, it knows only that he will appear a year later by standard modifications.
Unlike its predecessor, the roadster will get a soft removable roof. BMW engineers have taken this move to keep the weight reduction center of gravity and improve handling. The model has received a long hood and large grille. The length of the machine will not exceed 4500 mm, and the height – 1340 mm. It is expected that the wheelbase is 2500 mm, which means that the closest rival will be Porsche 911. The design of the vehicle will be carbon fiber, whose composition will be similar to those used in the BMW i3 and i8.
For the transition from first to second generation Z4 BMW withdrew from M-version, citing low demand. This does not prevent them from offering modification Z4 35is a 6-cylinder engine with 340 hp and 450 Nm. For comparison Z4 M in the first generation had a 343 horsepower but less torque – 365 Nm.
The new generation of the Roadster will go on sale in two versions. The first is Z5 sDrive 30i with 2.0-liter turbo the new series B48. The bike has shown great potential in the new 7-Series, where in version 730i has 258 horsepower and 400 Nm. The second option would rely on 3.0-liter turbo 6 cylinder, which at BMW M2i has 370 hp and 500 Nm, but expect these figures should be increased. The same engine will be offered Coupe Toyota Supra, which is being developed simultaneously with the Z5.
